Questions, answered

Commercial property inspection FAQ

What is a commercial property inspection?

A commercial property inspection is a thorough, visual evaluation of a building’s major systems, structure, envelope, site, and interior. It follows the ComSOP standard and gives buyers, owners, and investors a clear picture of a property’s condition — and the repairs it may need before or after a sale.

What types of properties do you inspect?

Office, retail, warehouse and industrial, multi-family, mixed-use, restaurants, and more. If you’re buying, refinancing, or managing a commercial building in Alabama or Georgia, we can help.

How long does it take, and when do I get the report?

It depends on the size and complexity of the building. However, most reports are delivered within a few business days through our web-based platform. Larger or multi-building properties may take longer — we’ll set clear expectations up front.

What standards do you follow?

We inspect to the International Standards of Practice for Inspecting Commercial Properties (ComSOP), and our inspectors are CCPIA-certified. You can read more about commercial standards at the Certified Commercial Property Inspectors Association.

Do you offer add-on testing?

Yes. You can add mold testing, radon testing, thermal imaging (thermography), and a wood-destroying insect report to any commercial inspection. We’ll recommend what makes sense for your property and budget.

Who actually performs the inspection?

Your commercial inspection is performed by Horizon Commercial Inspections, Ally’s dedicated commercial division. You get the same standard of care you’d expect from Ally, with specialists focused entirely on commercial buildings.

What areas do you serve?

We serve commercial clients statewide across Alabama and Georgia — from metro Atlanta and Birmingham to the surrounding communities. Not sure if we cover your area? Contact our team and we’ll let you know.
